‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’, officially entitled ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’, released various clips and footage highlighting its human protagonists including Vern, April, and Casey. Producer Andrew Form also explained the difference between the sequel and the original film.
According to Collider, footage without the eponymous superhero turtles don’t come by very often. Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Donatello seem to be the focus of the film’s numerous marketing materials. However, several clips have been released highlighting the upcoming film’s important human protagonists sans the turtles.
One clip showed Will Arnett’s news reporter Vern Fernwick getting too friendly for comfort with New York Knicks star player Carmelo Anthony. Other B-roll footage featured Megan Fox’s news reporter and turtle friend April O’Neil as well as Stephen Amell’s crime-fighting vigilante Casey Jones.
The upcoming film will feature a host of new and familiar villains including Tyler Perry’s Baxter Stockman, Brian Tee’s Shredder, Gary Anthony Williams’ Bebop, Stephen Farrelly’s Rocksteady, and Brad Garett’s Krang.
According to Den of Geek, producer Andrew Form explained that they had to do some changes for the follow-up film. He said, “It’s very easy to take it seriously and go right down that road. You can’t forget we’ve got four huge, talking, walking Turtles. You can’t forget that… The tone of the movie was the biggest challenge, which has truly helped us through movie two, because we learned from movie one.”
The first TMNT film released in 2014 had a production budget of $125 million, according to Box Office Mojo. It earned $65.5 million in its domestic opening weekend and eventually grossed $493.3 million at the worldwide box office.
Its sequel is on a bid to replicate the first film’s commercial success or even go beyond by providing a more kid-friendly PG-13 atmosphere as reported by Forbes. Dave Green will serve as director while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick, and Galen Walker will serve as producers. It is produced under Nickelodeon Movies, Platinum Dunes, Gama Entertainment, Mednick Productions, and Smithrowe Entertainment.
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’, or ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’, is an upcoming 3D science-fiction action film based on the TMNT characters. It is scheduled to be released on June 3, 2016.
